For many years, Ozlanka has rated the Anandians Dance as one of the very best Old School Dances in Sydney. This year too they have lived up to the image and set another benchmark for others to follow. The show they produced went beyond the expectations of many of the guests.
To start with, the hall décor included flower arrangements at the entrance and Fibre optic lighting on every table. This was a first and many guest stopped to admire the display.
Right in front of the stage, a large signature Ice Sculpture of a Dolphin in Gold on a Maroon backdrop, depicting the Ananda College colours was illuminated. This striking image saw many people go up to take a closer look. It was elegant and simple, yet eye catching and symbolic.
The stage lighting included cutting edge technology lasers controlled lighting. This complex arrangement was controlled by lighting engineer, Shehan Goonatilake.
For the second year in a row, the famed Radio Bandits rocked the Anandians and their guests with their unique blend of music. For that Sri Lankan touch, Sandra & Replay 6 had come up all the way from Melbourne do the Bailas and keep the feet on the floor. The music went well past the 1 AM deadline, but no one seemed to look at their watches. Time was flying faster than Apollo could take his chariot across the sky.
Rohan Gamage of Café Norton was back after a short break as again produced the delectable three course sit down menu that he is so famous for. The Anandians prefer a sit down meal as the guest can relax and take a break instead of having to stand in a line to get their dinner.
During dinner, the delightful Withanage girls from Canberra and the Russian Dancing Girls kept the Anandians and their friends mersmerised.
Ms. Dharini DeSilva was the MC for the night and closed the dance by thanking the guests, the performers and the president Kanatha Siriwardena and the committee for an awesome evening.
