The Royal College OBA of NSW & ACT present Annesley live a the Bowman Hall

Annesley Malawana has always been a name associated with wholesome music. His evergreen songs have lingered in our memories like pressed flowers and it will remain so for generations to come The mere mention of some of his hit songs like Mango Nenda, Kalu Mama, Ruwan Puraya, Dilhani & Kageda Gonwassa and other hits he created with his friend Clarence Wijewardana like Udarata Niliya, Gamen Liyumak, Wana Bambaro, Sandak Besa Giya and Kanda Surinduni brings back fond memories of especially the sixties and seventies era which gave us real soothing music.

Annesley performed live at a grand musical show organised by The Royal College OBA of NSW & ACT, at the very specious Bowman Hall, Blacktown, NSW on Friday the 3 rd of October 2008. The show was a big hit an a capacity crowd filled the hall.

Annesley who has over the years captivated the Sri Lankan music lovers all over the world with his inimitable voice and style, will transport the Bowman Hall audiences to another world when he brings back those unforgettable toe tapping songs of his yesteryear hits.

Annesley entered the music scene in 1966 when he met Clarence Wijewardana in Ratnapura and formed the Moonstones. Indrani Perera joined Moonstones two years later and gave the outfit a strong combination that was in high demand. After Clarence left Moonstones in 1970, Annesley took in Mike Gunesekara and produced the hit song Dunhinda Manamali. But Clarence and Annesely could not be separated for long. They teamed up again to form Super Golden Chimes and produced some scintillating numbers.

1976 saw another change in their careers when Annesley opted out of Super Golden Chimes seeking employment and subsequently starting a family whilst Clarence quit the group and went solo. However in 1989, Clarence again cohersed Annesley back into the music scene and produced a best selling cassette titled ‘Rosa Mala'. Soon after that Clarence, Annesley and Indrani performed on the same stage for a concert titled ‘20 year explosion' which is still talked about as one of the best Sinhala pop concert that was ever staged in Sri Lanka. In 2003/2004 Annesley did what many thought was an impossible dream by reuniting the original Super Golden Chimes group members ( some of whom were living out side Sri Lanka) after a 25 year gap for a very special concert at BMICH in Sri Lanka. It was a huge success
