The Sri Lankan community organised a fundraising ‘Hopper Nite’ at the Plumpton Parish Hall on 29th March 2008. All proceeds went towards their Church refurbishment. The event was a resounding success. 280 guests and their children, both parishioners and non-parishioners enjoyed an evening of fun & frolic which may well become an annual event. The theme was kept traditional throughout, with every couple receiving a complimentary entrance gift of ‘Kalu’ the very best ‘Ceylon tea’ bringing back nostalgic memories of the past. The night continued with Sri Lankan Cuisine served by well known caterer and parishioner ‘Kumarika’ enticing many non-Sri Lankan couples as well, to participate. Swinging everyone into the mood was ‘Irvy’ the inimitable ‘One Man Band.’ dishing out music for dancing, from his wide repertoire, of vocals and instrumentals. MCs Natarsha Misso, Johanne and Shaun Pietersz enlivened the event with their interludes and animation. The Raffle draw was a big attraction. Lavish prices received as donations, included a DVD player, Computer printer, Food Hamper and 7 other valuable consolation prizes….for just one Dollar. The Organising committee conveys their sincere thanks to the webmaster of Ozanka giving publicity for this event. |
