Christopher Paul and Anil Bharathi rock Sydney with those evergreen hits that we heard back home in Sri Lanka

The hugely successful Christopher Paul and Anil Bharathi musical concert was held at the Don Moore Hall in North Rocks last Friday the 13th Nov 2009.

This event, organised by the the Sinhalese Cultural Forum (SCF) was attended by over 400 fans of the two very popular artists from Sri Lanka. The hall was packed to capacity and many disappointed fans asked if there would be another show. Such was the popularity of these two great singers.

The show started with some local talents singing a few popular Sinhala songs. Then Christopher kicked off the evening with his most popular song since 1957 “Ha Mal Pipenne”. It was a real treat to hear Christopher singing to the music of Redemption band and 400 clapping fans.

This was followed by 5 of his songs that everyone remembers and loves to listen. Christopher's music life extends over 5 decades but he has a voice of an eighteen year old.

Anil Bharathi thoroughly entertained the audience with his deep voice. The artists were also awarded 2 souvenirs for the great contribution made to Sinhala music by them over several decades.

Excellent selection of songs, good quality sound, superb baking by Redemption and meticulous stage management greatly contributed to the success of the show.

This was the first musical show organised by the new SCF Management committee. If this show is a sample of things to come we can expect a lot of entertainment during the coming year.

The SCF has been providing a leading role in maintaining the cultural traditions of our nation. Their productions have always been big hits with the Sydney audience.
