Held at the Don Moore community Centre on July 25th 2009 with an appealing crowd as usual. The traditional event based on Hoteliers value for money concept, is an act of appreciation to all supporters and well wishes who are the most encouraging allies of the association. During a time when five star properties are chosen at a matching price for various events organized by the diaspora, the concept of the family disco was created to provide affordable enjoyment without sustaining a dent in the family financial threshold. Yet the Family Disco offers abundant enjoyment to be savoured in a care free, relaxed environment not cocooned by up market constraints. As the nightfall gradually settled in, the guests started trickling in with enthusiastic chatter and laughter. All guests presented themselves with fitting attire, overwhelming enthusiasm and radiating energy. The dimly lit hall was decorated charmingly to suit the occasion and there was an ever-present theme of simplicity and liveliness inside. While the DJ gradually lured the crowd with what he knows best the guests slowly merged in to the musical prowess of“NIGHT WALKERS” in line with the tempo. As usual well-presented Nimal's segment gave added value and a new twist to the event. The ever ready crowd met the challenge of ascending tempo with a display of supple body moves on the floor, pushing winter chill into temporary suspension. The boom of music often surpassed the fun filled chatter, while the guests were in and out of the floor, too busy coping with the custom mixed musical miscellany tailored to compromise every fastidious taste. Meanwhile the food factor in the agenda was taking shape in the kitchen area with reputed Flavour of Ceylon geared up with a culinary concoction with snacks and packed food. This was dedicated to the hunger worn crowd that battled against a non-stop musical bombardment. The aromatic smell of spices churned the nostalgic memories of weekend buffets in Sri Lanka. The carefree and chirpy, young and old seemed to enjoy every moment at the disco in a respectable fashion devoid of behavioural shackles and rigid mannerisms compelling in a formal environment. The gaiety of the well-behaved crowd was praise worthy and a great encouragement to association to continue with this effort. |
