The Old Boys of Royal College feted a 'Hopper Night' on Saturday 22nd August 2009 at the Don Moore Community Centre at North Rocks. It was well attended by a majority of old Royalist's, a few close friends and families. Kumarika Misso provided catering with a delicious menu which was well received and a DJ provide music from the 60's and 70's to which no one could resist tapping their toes. A couple of key highlights of the evening were: * A “ lip synchronised / voice pre recorded ” rendition of the 1960, Peter Sellers / Sophia Loren favourite - Goodness Gracious Me - brilliantly performed by Dr Siridev Abeywardene (as Peter) and Janaka Subasinghe ( as Sophia ). Some people did not realise that it was a bloke who was acting as a woman till after the skit. And * The old, Bill Forbes, hit song - Ladies of Calcutta - again sung by Dr. Siridev with a bevy of beautiful Indian belles ( alias the rest of the Royal Old Boys Committee ) providing a parade, which brought the house down. Mr. Cricket, Prasanna Kariyawasam loved his costume so much so that he refused to come out of character for a long time, after the skit. Old boys, friends ( which included quite a few non Sri Lankan born ) and family were able to mix and mingle whilst enjoying the music in a pleasant relaxed atmosphere. Which is what is needed these days, in order to forget all the worries of the world . Click here to view an album of 40 photos submitted by the organisers |
