The Sri Lanka Association Family Nite was held on 14 February 2009 at Cherrybrook Community Centre, Sydney, Australia …. The event was a sell out with almost 400 attending to a packed house. Tasty, typical Sri Lanka spicy rice and curry packets were on sale for dinner and were snapped up in seconds!! DJ Night Walkers provided the music to non stop dancing with Aubrey Joachim - the master of ceremonies ….and the grand finale was the Baila Competition. SLA President Dr Ruwan Walpola welcomed the guests and was pleased to see such an unprecedented crowd in spite of it being a stormy night….. The theme was appropriate for the day, with red and white heart shaped balloons and red roses adorning the tables. There were many young ladies and gents in jazzy gear shaking a foot on the large but packed dance floor, and we hope that some made use of this night to meet their Sri Lankan Valentine!!! |
