The 2nd Annual Charms Ceylon Cancer Fund Gala Event, held on Saturday, June 5

The 2nd Annual Charms Ceylon Cancer Fund Gala Event, held on Saturday, June 5 wrapped up as a phenomenal success, with all in attendance participating in this fantastic charity night, in the true spirit of fun and celebration for a worthy cause.

Founded by Charmaine Arun, a recent cancer survivor, the charity, Charms, was set up in order to raise funds for cancer sufferers at Maharagama Hospital in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Redgum community   H all in Wentworthville was the venue where over 250 guests of all ages and backgrounds attended a night of great raffles, fanciful auctions, and dancing to fantastic live music. All with a charming mix of family fun and friendly Sri Lankan hospitality. This balloon filled night kicked off with the classic sounds of the band 'SUNSET'.    Tony  De Zilva   ,    Errol Diaz Cathy Roche ,   Russell Bartholomeusz and Louise Pereira   BELTED OUT sharp melodies of both newer hits and golden classics ensured the dance floor was filled with smiling groovers. All credits to 'SUNSET' for giving us a superb evening to remember. Whilst behind the scenes "Flavour of Ceylon" prepared food at its usual scrumptious calibre!

The audience was moved by the speech and Power Point Presentation presented by  Charmaine that, highlighting the main cause of this event was to help the  poorest of the poor  cancer victims, and having pictures of the patients that  have taken into care by funding them for their treatment. What a noble cause indeed.

A great night was had by everyone, with the aim of raising funds for people in desperate need of treatment. What sets aside a night like this from others is that this charity is a not for profit organization. As such the atmosphere was that of full hearted warmth and fun. Charms prides itself on transparency, both in the way it raises money and in handing the funds over to patients in Maharagama, making sure the money finally goes where it is meant to for treatment, thus really making a difference.

What more is there to say about the night other than Charms by name, certainly charms by nature!! We are all looking forward to catching up for another great night next year!!
