Sri Lankan Food Fair – Sri Lankan Catholic Association of NSW

Report prepared by Joy Perera, for Sri Lankan Catholic Association of NSW.

There was good music and there was delicious Sri Lankan food. The fare included Koththu Roti, Hoppers, String Hoppers, Biriyani, Rice & Curry, Short Eats and Sri Lankan Sweets; all well presented in a very pleasant, friendly environment and with a festive air about it. That's how it went at the Sri Lankan Food Fair organised by the Sri Lankan Catholic Association of NSW, held on Saturday 22 May 2010 at the usual venue – The Roselea Community Centre, Carlingford.

Wide participation among all Sri Lankan ethnic and religious communities in Sydney, as well as non- Sri Lankans was a hugely welcome and satisfying feature of this event. Their active support both in the preparations prior to the event and at the event is greatly appreciated by the Organising Committee.

The graceful and calming presence of Fr Jude Nicholas, the Chaplain for Sri Lankan Catholic community in Sydney and his words of encouragement had an uplifting effect on everyone present. By all standards it was a hugely successful and rewarding event.

The event was organised by the Sri Lankan Catholic Association of NSW to raise funds for their program of religious, social, cultural and charitable activities. The Association wishes to thanks all those who contributed in various ways and participated in this event, to make it the great success it was.
