11th Biennial Sinhala Language School Concert concluded with flying colours at the Joan Sutherland performing Arts Centre

Report by Cicil Fonseka

The Biennial Sinhala Language School Concert organised by the Sinhalese Cultural Forum held on last Saturday night (18/09/2010) was a huge success. School children from Paramatta, Blacktown and Minto Sinhala Schools performed a wide variety of songs dance and drama items to the entertainment of an appreciative audience exceeding 500 in numbers.

Children in age 5 to 16 presented items specially designed to delight pre-schoolers, children and parents alike. It is hard not to be impressed by the talent, hard work and dedication of the children, teachers, the three principals and parents in organising such a show to the enjoyment of many.

One item presented a sad and emotional story to be followed by a hilarious comedy which is followed by a fun dance and so on. – a brilliant line-up. The costumes were very colourful and acting outstanding. The audience was pleased to notice the customary technical problems were non-existent with good lighting and quality sound without a hitch, adding to the enjoyment.

What a fantastic way for our kids to learn Sinhala while having a wonderful fun time.
