It was a cool spring night in Sydney on this Saturday, an ideal night for traditional Pittu that only the Malays can make to perfection.

The SLAMA committee had decided to go First Class and selected Castle Grand as the venue for the night.

This was a great choice as there was plenty of space for the children to run around and exhaust their boundless energies, exploring and making as much of a racket as they wanted to their heart's content.

With just over 230 members and their familes and friends, the hall was just the right size with the tables laid out in a spacious pattern which allowed us to move in and out without having to push chairs aside. Excellent!

Catering was entrusted to Fiona who for many years has earned a deserved reputation as one our very best Chef de Partie. Her Pittu and accompanying curries were extra ordinary and the guest just kept going back for seconds and thirds.

Shan Mendis - Sydney's Super DJ did not disappoint our guests. His music selection had something for everyone. And he kept the music going virtually non stop. What a wonderful DJ, simply the best.

With such great music, no one could resist the temptation to dance. More often than not the seats were empty as people packed the floor and gyrated to the music that blasted out of Shan's speakers.

Well the organisers did not forget to add that element of surprise too. Three lucky people walked away with large hampers of goodies. .
