Wesak Celebrations at Lankarama were held at Lankarama Sydney with the participation of thousands of devotees who completely ignored the weather forecast of a cyclone.

All the devotees of Lankarama know it never rains at Lankarama premises on the Wesak day!

The morning started with observance of sil by 400 adults and 350 children. It is a rare sight to see over 700 people observing sil in one place even in Sri Lanka. The highlight of the day has to be the opening of the Goldern Fence protecting the sacred Bodhi Tree at Lankarama. This gold plated fence adds beauty to already serene environment around the Bodhi Tree. This puja was attended by close to 2000 devotees.

The night was dedicated especially to the traditional Wesak activities. Hundreds of Wesak Lanterns made by children and adults lighted up the Lankarama Premises. The beautiful Thorana, massive rotating lantern system, animated swan lantern, devotional songs by the Sunday Schools children at Parramatta and Schofields added traditional authenticity to the beautiful event
