Three perhaps four generations of Sri Lankans in Sydney formed the guests at the well attended Christmas function was hosted by the SLA at the Rosslea Community Hall on Saturday the 17th of December.

Some of our respected seniors, their children, grand children and children of the grand children were welcomed by the SLA President, Roshan Wickremenayake. The evening was well co-ordinated, music by 'The Redemptions' Christmas Carols sung by ... , a 'black' Santa, a sumptuous buffet by 'The Curry Leaf' Restaurant, provided the guests to a fitting start of the Season.

Sunetra Nadarajah led the Carol singing, she ably co-ordinated the multi pitched, multi tuned, multi volumed group into delivering a beautifully presented session of well known Carols.

As the Carols came to an end Anoja de Alwis, Santa's not-so-little, helper piloted a of the expected girth the group of children eagerly awaiting his arrival. One tiny voice was heard piping, 'mummy a black Santa'.

After the children had received their just rewards, a slightly curved buffet table groaned under the weight of the silver dishes, but the guests in two streams on either side of the table soon reduced the strain on the buffet tables, transferring the succulent kilograms from the buffet table to around their waists.

The Redemption struck up the music and the guests began to gyrate away the avoirdupois that they had accumulated.

Anoja de Alwis, recognized the contributions to the event in her vote of thanks and most enjoyable evening was rounded of with the raffle draw.
