The St Bridget's Convent Past Pupils Association of NSW celebrated its SILVER JUBILEE on 3rd February at the Grand Ballroom of the Epping Club Sydney, with an impressive and very well attended Dinner Dance. The President Sandra Vancuylenberg and the belles of St Bridget’s took the Gala event to new heights creating an evening of elegance and panache with an electrifying vibe created by the band FLAME. On arrival the guests in formal attire were guided to the terrace for Champagne, cocktails and canapés. They were then led down the red carpet into the Grand Ballroom. The ladies swept in with their gifts of beautiful Pashmina shawls. Attention to detail was evident. The Ballroom was beautifully lit to showcase the tables named after the roads around St Bridget’s in Colombo with centerpieces of green and white orchids. Hand-made silver boxes filled with Sri Lankan sweets added to the table decor. The chairs were adorned with green sashes in keeping with the school colours. The amazing raffle prizes and the Jubilee Cake with the school emblem were displayed at the formal entrance to the Ballroom, creating a stunning effect. The band FLAME from Sri Lanka and JOEY LEWIS from the UK flew in for this special occasion. It was fitting to have a Bridgeteen Anne Jay as the lead singer. The guitarists Kamal and Primal were outstanding. The music was awesomely earth shattering. FLAME's ability to combine/ synchronize Baila with Western tunes was unique. The Ballroom was literally rocking with groups dancing everywhere even as far as the back walls. The Bridgeteens gathered on stage to sing the school Anthem. It was surprising to see two handsome guys amongst the girls- they were at SBC's Montessori. The cutting of the Jubilee cake followed this. It was touching to see young and old standing together in years of friendship with founder members cutting the cake together. A Video presentation during the sumptuous dinner outlined the journey of the Association. It was a fun filled unforgettable evening. With great music, the atmosphere was electrifying with a buzz that kept everyone on his or her toes all evening. Midnight came all too soon. Well Done NSW Bridgeteens for organizing a fantastic ball and a night to remember. Click here to enjoy an album of high quality photos by RoyGrafix |
