Popular Lankarama Summer Food Fair attracts not only Sri Lankans but also locals who live in the Hills district

Again it is the time of the year when Roselea Community Centre becomes the talk of the town. Sri Lankan community repeated their Food Fair again on 18 February 2012 filling not only he Centre but the environs also with aroma of Sri Lankan foods.

“Food with a Smile” would have been the motto of the evening as with previous food fairs.
‘Hopper’ stalls as always were the major attraction judging by the length of queues in front of them. Nalandians repeated their “Dosai Kade” with much success. They would have practiced a lot to get those perfect circles in every “Dosai”.

Behind “Briyani” stall there were few new faces. Younger ones manned sweet drinks and sweet meats stalls. “Kotthu” stall was another busy stall. Cannot forget the “Wade” stall selling both kind of this popular savoury stuff. It was nice to see the pineapple stall is back with different faces behind it.

This may be a very popular event in Sri Lankan food lovers’ calendar judging by the number of Sri Lankans and non Sri Lankans turned out.

As usual the proceeds of the event will go to the Dharmasalawa Project in Lankarama which will be opening on 18 March 2012. Event was organised by Sri Lanka Buddhist Vihara Association (SLBVA) with every stall holder working as volunteers.
